L'obesità rappresenta attualmente una delle prime 10 malattie croniche per prevalenza e costi per il sistema sanitario. L’ultima rilevazione ufficiale dell’Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) dimostra che in Italia il 45,1% della popolazione adulta soffre di sovrappeso/obesità. Il rischio di morte prematura è direttamente proporzionale al peso: infatti un paziente con obesità grave dai 18 anni ha in media 13 anni di aspettativa di vita in meno di una persona normopeso. Per rendere meglio l’idea, questa condizione patologica è responsabile di oltre 2,8 milioni di decessi all'anno in tutto il mondo. Inoltre, l’obesità causa una marcata riduzione della qualità di vita e di prospettive professionali.
La Chirurgia Bariatrica rappresenta attualmente il trattamento più efficace nei pazienti con obesità grave, in quanto altre terapie, quali la modifica dello stile di vita, i farmaci e la terapia comportamentale, non si sono dimostrati altrettanto adeguati.
L’Unità Operativa di Chirurgia Bariatrica offre agli utenti tutte le moderne tecniche chirurgiche ed endoscopiche per il trattamento integrato dell’obesità ed opera nel contesto assistenziale multidisciplinare del Centro Integrato per lo Studio e la Cura Medica e Chirurgica dell’Obesità dell’Azienda Ospedale – Università di Padova.
La presa in carico del paziente e la preparazione all’intervento chirurgico avviene attraverso visite specialistiche (Chirurgo Bariatrico, Anestesista, Internista, Dietista, Psicologo, Psichiatra, Medico dello Sport, Chirurgo Plastico) ed indagini diagnostiche coordinate da un Case Manager, secondo quanto previsto dal Percorso Clinico-Assistenziale del paziente affetto da obesità.
L’attività ambulatoriale è articolata come segue: Visita Chirurgica per Obesità
Consiste nella presa in carico del paziente con raccolta anamnestica, esame obiettivo, informazione e programmazione del successivo iter diagnostico-terapeutico in accordo con PDTA Regionale. Visita Chirurgica per Obesità di controllo
Consiste in visite di controllo di pazienti in attesa di intervento o già operati. Vengono verificati condizioni cliniche, esami richiesti nel corso della valutazione iniziale, aderenza al percorso integrato post-operatorio, eventuali criticità intervenute. Vengono accettati anche pazienti con problematiche urgenti correlate all’intervento. Visita Multidisciplinare per Obesità
Consiste nella valutazione multidisciplinare del paziente con obesità per una definizione “personalizzata” della proposta terapeutica. In aggiunta al chirurgo prevede il coinvolgimento di diverse figure professionali quali internista, dietista, psicologo, psichiatra. In occasione di tale visita avviene l’inserimento in lista per l’intervento chirurgico. Visita Chirurgica Generale
Consiste nella presa in carico del paziente con raccolta anamnestica, esame obiettivo, informazione e programmazione del successivo iter-diagnostico terapeutico. Vengono valutate patologie della parete addominale, calcolosi della colecisti e neoformazioni cutanee.
Le degenze sono ospitate in confortevoli stanze di 1, 2, 4 letti dotate tutte di bagno autonomo. L’unità di degenza è configurata per ospitare i pazienti affetti da obesità secondo le attuali norme di sicurezza del paziente.
Il personale sanitario che opera nel Reparto è rappresentato da medici, infermieri e operatori socio-sanitari; in alcuni orari sono presenti i Volontari dell'AVO (Associazione Volontari Ospedalieri) identificabili attraverso il cartellino di riconoscimento.
Ai pazienti ricoverati non è consentita l’assistenza da parte dei familiari, al di fuori degli orari di visita, salvo i casi autorizzati dal personale di reparto.
